IRIS etrike upgrades solo city riding with go

The street-legal IRIS eTrike that doubles as a city bike gets an upgraded look from its preceding visuals here. The reborn eTrike is now refined with a futuristic aerodynamic shape that enables it to gain 30+ mph and a range of 30 miles on a single, low-cost battery charge. The exterior design is illuminated by the multi-color LED strip lighting around the headlamp, brake, and indicators to signal nearby riders that a space car-looking ride roaming around is about to storm through the road.

The design team – led by the nephew of Sir Clive Sinclair, Grant – has installed a cooling system with HEPA air purifier for smoke, germs, and viruses as standard. The cooling system channels filtered air inside the cabin using replaceable HEPA filters. An IRIS eTrike prototype is on show from May 20th, 2023 to April 14th, 2024 at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu in the UK for their MOTOPIA Exhibition, and as of publishing the story, IRIS eTrike is being prepared for mass production with delivery slated for the first quarter of 2024.

The street-legal IRIS eTrike by Grant Sinclair features a new ergonomic, upright bucket seat that can be folded to make way for a lockable rear compartment that carries up to 100+ liters of cargo storage. It is accessible either internally or externally using a supplied RFID electronic key fob.

The electric tricycle weathers all weather conditions too, thanks to the weatherproof EPP foam body construction with chromoly steel trike chassis; LED headlamps, indicator-repeaters, and brake lights for road visibility; and the weatherproof canopy made from aviation acrylic and includes a de-mist function.

the removable Lithium-Ion battery can provide a range of up to 30 miles on a single charge

The removable Lithium-Ion battery of the electric tricycle can provide a range of up to 30 miles on a single charge, and Sinclair states that IRIS eTrike's motor – offered at 250, 500, 750, and 1,000 watts – is powerful enough to be able to ride through steep hills. An LCD display is anchored on the side which showcases the eTrike's speed, distance, battery charge, and power mode.

Because of the three wheels, no balancing is required for IRIS eTrike. The mid-drive motor automatically starts when pedaling is detected, so no throttle is required either. Sinclair designs the tires to be puncture-proof to avoid changing them regularly, and the cabin also includes a universal smartphone dock for GPS and music playback. The updated design of IRIS also enjoys a built-in 120˚rear-view camera which streams real-time video to the riders’ docked mobile device.
